Tourism
Mexico is the 8th largest tourist destination in the world. Last year alone we catered more than 21 million foreign tourists who spent more than 12 billion USD, according to the World Tourism Organization. Tourism currently accounts for 8% of our GDP and 9% of our labor force, according to the National Council for Tourism Promotion.
The current administration plans to invest 20 billion USD, from both public and private sectors in infrastructure having a direct and high impact on Tourism. We expect that by 2020 we will grow to 282 million travels to America.
Mexico’s middle/lower class typically take their vacations within Mexico, in contrast to the middle/higher class who travel worldwide, especially to Europe and the United States, and in lesser numbers to Asia and South America. Mexico is the twenty-third highest tourism spender in the world, and the highest in Latin America.
